Matter: The new smart home standard.

What's matter?

Zigbee Alliance presented a revolutionary protocol for smart home products in 2019. Google and Amazon already had a partnership under the name CHIP and Matter was born from there.
Matter will ensure that almost all your smart home devices can communicate and work together without any problems, regardless of the manufacturer.

The problem.

Today you can already have a lot of smart home equipment communicate with each other. However, the options are limited and often very complex. Take Google Home and Alexa for example, everything is mixed up here and customers are pushed into a one-sided system.

If you were to order and install all the equipment you want today, not everything will fit in the same picture and you may not have enough knowledge to make everything work together and properly. So this is not the ideal smart home standard.

The solution: Matter will matter.

Matter is a common IP-based protocol that connects Internet of Things devices. For example, all smart home devices must communicate easily with each other. The Matter logo will indicate that your device can work together safely and reliably. You will be able to combine all brands with each other as long as it has a Matter logo on it.

In short, the Nirvana for smart home fans. And this will be ready for use in the fall of 2022.

Who is behind Matter?

Matter is open-source and powers more than 200 technology companies located around the world.

Matter will use existing technologies such as Thread, WiFi, Bluetooth and Ethernet. This enables it to easily connect products without a cloud platform.
This means that if your internet fails you will still be able to use your equipment.

Matter works with Amazon Alexa, Homekit, Google Assistant, Samsung SmartThings and many more. Private label products from Ika, Action, Hema, Lidl, Kruidvat, etc. will also be affiliated with Matter.

2022, the year of the first Matter products.

The first Matter products will arrive this fall as Matter 1.0 has officially launched.
Companies can certify their products through a test lab and existing accessories can be updated.
Lamps, sensors, door locks, window coverings, air conditioning controls and hubs are allowed and other product categories will follow.

You will find the special Matter logo on the packaging and products themselves.
We therefore recommend choosing Matter labeled products in your purchase or postponing your purchase if they are not yet available.
